The Omni Heavy Duty Slot Reader is a versatile scanning solution for bar codes printed on paper card stock or plastic. It offers exceptional functionality and is suitable for a variety of applications. With the option of an infrared feature, it can be employed for security-based purposes where bar codes are overprinted to prevent duplication.

This robust reader allows for the reading of up to three tracks of information with a single swipe in either direction. Moreover, it is capable of reading both bar code and magnetic stripe media, making it highly adaptable. Various interfaces, including TTL, RS-232, keyboard wedge, USB-Keyboard, and Weigand, are available to accommodate different systems.

Designed to withstand demanding environments, the Omni Reader is ideal for applications such as access control or self-service kiosks. Its die-cast metal base, stainless steel wearplate, and impact-resistant housing ensure durability and longevity. The reader can be securely mounted with screws, and cable exits are conveniently located at the side, end, or bottom of the unit.

For harsh conditions, a weatherproof-extended temperature version of the Omni Reader is also available. This provides reliable performance even in challenging environments. Additionally, the Omni Reader offers programmable features, allowing users to divide, rearrange, edit, and validate fields of scanned data. It also supports up to 16 preamble or postamble characters for customization. The Weigand interface can be programmed using an optional RS-232 adaptor cable, adding further flexibility to the device
